Sharon served in the USAF as a Heating Systems Technician and crossed trained into Production Control Specialist in Civil Engineering. She was also a member of Base Engineer Emergency Forces which were tasked with setting up temporary runways and basic operations to become functional areas after they had been attacked. She participated in Operation Urgent Fury, the invasion of Grenada in October 1983.
Sharon has been a member of the American Legion for 13 years. She transferred to post 265 in 2021 after moving here from Georgia and has been a vital part of the post. She has volunteered on many occasions supporting not only the American Legion but also the community. She has participated in National Night Out, Domestic Violence Recognition and Prevention, which are very dear to her. She is a member of the Onslow County Fair board and holds the position of Bingo Chairman for the post. She is always willing to volunteer when called upon.
She enjoys going to the beach and listening to the waves, enjoys farmers markets and yard working. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and 2 grandsons and one spoiled rescue dog that demands her attention when she is home.Steven Shortt
